IMS Röntgensysteme GmbH

Taking CAD/CAM processes into a new era

Founded in 1980, IMS develops and manufactures isotope, X-ray and optical measurement systems for a wide range of applications.

Sector X-ray systems
Region West Germany
Company size 450 employees

While departmental thinking and silo solutions are widespread in the industry, IMS has taken a new approach. By focusing on the seamless integration and reuse of knowledge from different process steps, the company has rethought and optimized manufacturing and CNC CAM programming. At IMS, design and production use the same database and 3D data from idea to finished part.

Atypical for medium-sized companies, IMS uses automated production with robotic assembly to produce high-precision components in an efficient process where machines control machines. Automated production requires machines that can detect deviations and take appropriate countermeasures to produce the ideal component. PTC Windchill as a PLM system and PTC Creo Parametric with Creo NC form the basis for automation in the CAD/CAM process chain.
